The Chocolove Chase is a charity event I’ve been building in my mind over multiple years. I’ve finally been able to put it into action this spring with the incredible support of Chocolove providing our grand prize – the winning riders’ weight in chocolate!
The event will support scholarships for the Colorado High School Mountain Bike League – every dollar we raise will go directly to help get more kids on bikes.
The Chocolove Chase is a 3 hour long, partner-based, waypoint hunt on gravel bikes in Boulder, Colorado. Waypoints are announced the day before the event and are worth varying amounts of points based on the difficulty in getting there. Riders are issued a score card at the start and at each waypoint there will be a unique hole punch. Teams choose which route to take and which waypoints to tackle but must return by noon for their points to count.
After returning, the score cards are handed in and points are exchanged for an equal number of raffle tickets. Teams will choose which prize(s) they want to allocate their tickets towards and at 1245pm, the winning tickets for each prize are drawn. In addition to our grand prize of the heavier teammates’ weight in Chocolove, we have shoes and helmets from Mavic, tires and saddles from WTB, eyewear from Julbo Eyewear, coffee from The Coffee Ride, additional prizes from Stages Cycling and more!
The ideal bike has decent clearance for 30mm tires or larger and most of the routes will take place on a mix of dirt roads and pavement with the occasional light singletrack.
