Where We’re Riding — April 2026

A monthly series from Allen

By April, the shift is complete. The hesitation of winter is gone. The bike is no longer something you make time for—it becomes something you build your days around. Weekends stretch longer. Midweek rides start to feel essential. Plans form more easily, and rides extend just a little further than intended.

April is where cycling settles back into routine—but in the best possible way.
This month we’re riding across Mediterranean islands, coastal California, and the green hills of northern Spain—places where the season isn’t just starting, it’s fully underway.

April: When the Season Opens Up

April riding carries a different kind of energy. There’s structure now—events, goals, destinations—but there’s still space to enjoy it. Fitness is returning, but not yet demanded. The balance between effort and enjoyment is still intact.
It’s one of the best months of the year to ride.

Europe / Rest of World Spotlight:

Mallorca 312 — Mallorca, Spain

(Road)

Few events capture the essence of spring road cycling like Mallorca 312.
Set on one of Europe’s most established cycling islands, the event offers multiple distances that circle Mallorca through a combination of coastal roads, inland valleys, and the iconic climbs of the Serra de Tramuntana. The riding is varied but never chaotic—long ascents, smooth descents, and stretches of open road that invite steady pacing.
What makes Mallorca unique is its balance. It accommodates serious riders without feeling exclusive, and it rewards effort without requiring extremes.

United States Spotlight:

Sea Otter Classic — Monterey, California

(Road / Gravel / MTB)

If Mallorca is about rhythm, Sea Otter Classic is about variety.
Held at Laguna Seca Raceway and surrounding trails, Sea Otter is less a single event and more a gathering point for cycling in all its forms. Road, gravel, and mountain biking all converge here—alongside product launches, demo rides, and a community that spans casual riders to professionals.

The setting adds to the appeal. Monterey’s coastal terrain offers rolling hills, ocean views, and cool spring air that makes riding feel light and unforced.

This year, Allen will be on-site with our Smart Suction® racks on display at Booth M105. If you’re attending, stop by to see the system up close and learn more about how active monitoring is changing the way bikes are transported.

Lifestyle Spotlight:

San Sebastián & Basque Coast — Rolling Roads & Coastal Climbs

(No event required)

For a completely different expression of spring riding, the Basque coast offers depth, texture, and constant variation. Centered around San Sebastián, this region blends short, punchy climbs with winding coastal roads and lush green hills that feel more like northern Europe than southern Spain. The terrain is rarely flat, but never overwhelming—each climb leads quickly into a descent, a village, or a view that resets the effort.

Riding here is dynamic. Routes shift constantly, encouraging exploration over structure. It’s a place where you ride by feel more than by plan.

And like Mallorca, what follows the ride is just as important. The Basque region is known for its food culture—small plates, fresh seafood, and local wines served in relaxed, social settings.

April in the Basque Country feels alive. Green hills, cool air, and roads that invite you to keep going just a little further.

The Thread That Connects Them

Mountain roads. Coastal air. Festival energy.April brings cycling into full view. The preparation of winter has transitioned into participation. The rides feel purposeful, but not pressured. There’s still room to explore, to adjust, to enjoy.
It’s a month where consistency meets opportunity.

Why April Matters

April is where the season becomes real.

Plans take shape. Rides become longer. The connection to the bike strengthens—not through discipline, but through repetition and enjoyment.

Whether you’re climbing through Mallorca, riding the California coast, or exploring the Basque hills, the goal remains unchanged:

Keep riding. Stay present. Let the season unfold.

Next up: May — bigger miles, wider gravel, and the pull of early-summer adventure.
